SB17 245 - Tenancies One Month To One Year Notice

Effective Date: August 9th, 2017

Key points:

  • Extended Termination Notice: For tenancies lasting one month or longer but less than six months without a written agreement, either party must provide at least 21 days' written notice to terminate the tenancy.  

  • Rent Increase Notification: Landlords intending to increase rent in these tenancies must also give tenants a minimum of 21 days' notice before implementing the change.  

  • This legislation aims to ensure both landlords and tenants have adequate time to prepare for changes in their rental arrangements.
