HB23 1253 - Task Force To Study Corporate Housing Ownership

  • Examination of Corporate Housing Ownership: The task force is directed to study housing ownership by corporate entities and analyze residential real estate transactions involving these entities in Colorado since January 1, 2008, including acquisitions resulting from foreclosures. 

  • Methodology Development: It is tasked with determining a methodology to assess the impacts of corporate acquisition and ownership of residential properties, focusing particularly on single-family homes, condominiums, and townhomes. 

  • Data Collection and Analysis: The task force will gather and analyze relevant data, reports, and public records related to corporate ownership of housing to understand its effects on the housing market and communities. 

  • Legislative Recommendations: Based on its findings, the task force is expected to make legislative recommendations aimed at mitigating any identified negative impacts associated with corporate ownership of housing. 

  • Reporting Requirements: A report detailing the task force's findings and recommendations must be submitted to the Transportation, Housing, and Local Government Committee of the House of Representatives and the Local Government and Housing Committee of the Senate by October 1, 2025. l
